Buddhist Temple - Oxnard
Part passion project, part gamble, OBT as it is fondly referred to is an existing religious temple and social hall that called on our creativity while figuring out how to construct new footings underneath a 100-year-old wood-framed building. How was this accomplished? By raising the building in its entirety! With diligent subcontractor coordination, the 100-year-old Pioneer building was hoisted 5' in the air and supported on temporary cribbing, providing our crews with a clever, efficient, excavation solution. This was followed by the construction of concrete stem walls, installation of anchored pressure-treated sill plates, and a flawless lowering of the building onto its new perfectly flat foundation. We only had 1 shot to get this right, and the McM team rose to the occasion, hitting the mark on these delicately placed stem walls that will serve as the new foundation for the Temple's Pioneer building. McM contributed to the Temple's final aesthetic by installing slabs on grade, decorative sitework, and concrete benches, and we look forward to this renovation lasting another 100 years.
